What is CONNECT ?
collaborate, share and create synergies between accelerators and cleantech organizations across Canada
CONNECT is the Canadian accelerator network dedicated to supporting cleantech start-up entrepreneurs across the country, regardless of the province in which they are located.
CONNECT will leverage regional best practices at the national level, facilitating access for entrepreneurs to the right users, advisors, partners and investors across a pan-Canadian network.
Connect is not an accelerator It is a collaborative network of to enhance cleantech entrepreneurs’ access to national acceleration resources;
Connect is not a new organization It assembles existing member organizations with network administrative office under CanadaCleantech;
Connect is the result of recommendation # 18 of the Federal-Provincial-Territorial (FPT) Working Group on Clean Technology, Innovation and Jobs Final Report (Sept 2016) report
The founding members of CONNECT are Foresight (Vancouver, BC), BC Cleantech CEO Alliance (Vancouver, BC), Alberta Clean Technology Industry Alliance (Calgary, AB), MaRS (Toronto, ON), Ecofuel Accelerator (Montreal, QC) , Écotech Québec (Montreal, QC), Creative Destruction Labs (Rockies, Atlantic), Innovacorp (Halifax, NS) and CanadaCleantech (national).
Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre
Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre is Western Canada’s first clean technology accelerator, launched in March 2013 as a not-for-profit corporation to foster the growth of small and medium size businesses (SMEs) in the development and commercialization of viable technology solutions to create and produce energy more efficiently and responsibly.
BC Cleantech CEO Alliance
The BC Cleantech Alliance is an exclusive group of cleantech entrepreneurs and CEOs committed to accelerating British Columbia as a global hub of cleantech innovation, talent, capital and solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges in climate, energy and water. The Alliance strengthens and expands the BC cleantech ecosystem through collaborative partnerships such as Evok Innovations. The Alliance also advocates for an aspirational innovation agenda to industry and government.
Alberta Clean Technology Industry Alliance
ACTia is an association that focuses on addressing common challenges and opportunities facing the clean technology industry in Alberta. ACTia's mandate is to promote clean technology development and adoption in this province’s private and public sectors. Ensuring its members lead the way in clean technology will build competitiveness, foster regional economic growth and reduce environmental footprint.
MaRS Discovery District
MaRS Discovery District in Toronto is the world’s largest urban innovation hub. MaRS Cleantech, a division of MaRS, works closely with entrepreneurs who are building globally competitive companies and driving innovation in the cleantech sector. The industry looks to MaRS Cleantech to assist with company growth and the removal of complex technology adoption barriers. The team supports high-impact businesses by connecting innovators, potential partners, customers, investors, talent and capital.
Ecofuel is a startup accelerator that works with exceptional entrepreneurs in clean technology to help build companies that will become competitive on a global basis.In addition to an investment of up to $75,000, Ecofuel offers to its entrepreneurs a personalized and specialized training program of workshops, networking and mentoring meetings, with the objective of developing entrepreneurship and help build and scale technology-based companies.
